Well, he did it. Max Baucus’ bill made it through the Senate today, officially shutting out the public option and including language to force all Americans to purchase private insurance whether they want to or not; a first in American history.
And all it took was four million dollars in contributions from the insurance lobbyists to Baucus’ campaign. Several billion dollars of new forced insurance customers, for four million. Not a bad return.
